Even wisdom teeth that come in normally may be prone to disease.

The American Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons recommends 3rd molars should be evaluated by the time a patient becomes a young adult to:

-confirm the presence of 3rd molars
-assess any abnormalities such as cysts, tumors, disease, & improper positioning.
-management options which range from surgical removal to a specific tailored patient plan.

Just because you’re being evaluated does not mean you are a candidate for surgery. Every person is unique and that means every surgery is equally as unique.

With increased age comes an increased chance in length of recovery, longer root formation and complications. If monitored and caught at an earlier age your rates of other dental issues and complications are decreased.

We work with your general dentist as a team to ensure the best possible patient specific outcome.

In addition to having a board certified Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon, our team strives to lower risks & complications with the following:

- Proper airway & vitals monitoring before, during, and after procedure
- Thorough medical history & exam prior to surgery
- Emphasis on explaining and following all instructions before and after procedure
