This patient came to us aware of the changes happening in her smile long before anyone else noticed them. Years of wear, chipping, recession, and failing restorations had begun to alter not only the appearance of her teeth, but the way she carried herself. She had learned to soften her smile to camouflage a Class III bite and avoid drawing attention to the areas that no longer felt like her.
What made this case unique was her clarity. She wasn’t interested in orthodontics or the pursuit of perfection. She wanted honesty, longevity, and dentistry that respected her natural features instead of trying to completely reinvent them.
After comprehensive records, digital photography, and occlusal analysis, we discussed the underlying reason behind the continued chipping and wear: alignment and function. While orthodontics were recommended, she was not interested in this avenue.
Treatment began with stabilizing her periodontal health through scaling and root planning with laser bacterial reduction, followed by a referral for surgical care . Teeth with deep decay and poor long-term prognosis were removed, and implants were strategically placed at sites #2, 30, 15, 18 & 19 to restore strength and support in the posterior dentition (aka: her back molars).
From there, the focus shifted from disease control to refinement. Stunning porcelain implant crowns were placed at sites #2, 30, 15, 18 & 19 to restore function and stability, while the upper anterior teeth were approached with restraint and conservative intention. Resin bonding on #7, #8, and #9, along with a crown on #6, allowed us to soften discoloration, improve proportion, and refresh the smile without losing the individuality that made it hers.
Nothing overly white. Nothing exaggerated. Nothing that felt artificial. Just simply balance. The final result is a more resolved version of the one she already had. And this is where the most sophisticated dentistry lives.
