Do your gums bleed when you brush or floss?

It may be easy to dismiss, especially if it happens regularly, but bleeding gums can be a sign of inflammation. Other changes to pay attention to include:

• Red, swollen, or tender gums
• Persistent bad breath
• Gums that appear to be pulling away from your teeth
• Teeth that feel loose
• Changes in the way your teeth fit together when you bite

If you’ve noticed any of these signs, let your dental team know. Addressing gum concerns early can help protect both your gums and your teeth.

It’s Meet the Team Monday!

Today, we’re getting to know Dr. Smith a little better! Dr. Smith grew up in Macon and has proudly called Savannah home for many years, and it is where she and her husband raised their four children.

She completed her undergraduate education at Mercer University before earning her dental degree from the Medical College of Georgia School of Dentistry. Shortly after Habersham Dental was established, Dr. Smith joined the practice as Dr. Schmitz’s first associate and has had the opportunity to watch it grow into multiple locations.

Dr. Smith takes a gentle, thorough approach to care. She listens to each patient’s needs, carefully explains procedures, and creates personalized treatment plans so patients can feel informed and relaxed.

Outside of the office, Dr. Smith enjoys porch time with family and friends, cooking, gardening, entertaining, and traveling.

Today, we pause to remember all of the lives lost and honor the courage shown by so many in the moments, days, and years that followed.

For those of us who remember, it is our responsibility to continue sharing their stories and helping future generations understand the significance of that day.

That’s where floss comes in. Cleaning between your teeth helps remove plaque and food from the areas your toothbrush misses.

Think of it this way: Brushing without flossing is a little like washing your hands but skipping between your fingers. Close, but not quite finished. 😄

Since yesterday was Labor Day, we’re bringing you a special Meet the Team Tuesday!

Today, we’re getting to know Dr. Tran a little better! A Savannah native, Dr. Tran is proud to care for patients in the same community where he was raised. Before becoming a dentist, he was both a patient and a dental assistant at Habersham Dental, experiences that helped inspire his passion for dentistry.

Dr. Tran earned his bachelor’s degree in Biology from the University of Georgia before graduating from the University of Detroit Mercy School of Dentistry.

His approach to care is centered around making patients feel comfortable, heard, and informed. He takes time to listen to their concerns, clearly explain their options, and work together to choose the best treatment. He also emphasizes prevention and helping patients understand how to maintain their oral health.

Outside of the office, a few of Dr. Tran’s favorite things include pickleball, golf, concerts, traveling, and spending quality time with friends and family.

From patient to dental assistant to dentist, caring for the Habersham Dental community has truly brought Dr. Tran's journey full circle, and we are so proud to have him as part of our team. 💙

It’s Meet the Team Monday!

Today, we’re getting to know Dr. Booth a little better! Raised in Florida by parents who both served as Air Force officers, Dr. Booth earned her bachelor’s degree from the University of West Florida before graduating from Emory University School of Dentistry.

After many years in private practice in San Diego, she relocated to Savannah and joined Habersham Dental, where she has cared for patients for the past 17 years.

Dr. Booth believes patients should be empowered to make decisions about their care. Through education, modern technology, good old-fashioned conversation, and sometimes a little humor, she helps patients better understand their oral health and dental needs.

Outside of the office, Dr. Booth enjoys yoga, golf, reading, and needlework. Her commitment to keeping patients informed and involved in their care makes her an important part of the Habersham Dental team. 💙

It’s Meet the Team Monday!

Today, we’re getting to know Dr. Crider a little better! A Savannah native and Benedictine Military School graduate, Dr. Crider attended the University of Georgia before earning his dental degree from the Dental College of Georgia.

During his residency, he gained extensive surgical experience and developed the skills to provide comprehensive care for his patients. He has also helped lead the Maxi Implant Course, where he continues to strengthen his expertise in implant placement and restoration while teaching and mentoring other dentists.

Outside the office, Dr. Crider enjoys walking or biking with his dog, spending time with his family, watching college football and golf, and cooking or grilling at home.

We’re proud to have Dr. Crider caring for our patients at Habersham Dental! 💙
