The “cusp build-up” technique is fundamental when it comes to replicating nature and obtaining posterior composites with ideal occlusal anatomy.

✅ In large Class II’s build the proximal wall first

✅ This is followed by building one cusp at a time. Using a small brush helps with ideal adaptation of the composite to tooth structure

✅ Warming your composite with a Calset warmer is KEY at improving composite handling

✅ Once completed you should have ideal anatomy

✅ This is exactly how we do it in REAL cases! See last photo.

How to properly use the NEW Quad matrix system by Garrison Dental Solutions

✅ Select the proper Quad wedge (notice the split tip)

✅ Place the selected section matrix avoiding damiging it while seating (passive fit)

✅ Insert the Quad wedge from its tab from buccal to lingual. Note how the bifurcated tip opens towards the lingual

✅ Place the Quad ring on the rign forceps with the driver tip (arrow) towards the lingual

✅ Take the rign intra-orally ensuring that the driver tip (arrow) splits the tip of the wedge mesially and distally so that it helps contour the band

✅ Burnish the band and initiate restoration of the proximal wall

“Simple” yet predictable esthetic dentistry.

Beautiful smiles are not only the ones achieved with 20 porcealin veneers, actually they are BEAUTIFUL when less is done!

For this patient we completed NG bleaching using 10% CP followed by two Class IV composite restorations on #8-9 using Harmonize from Kerr. No need for anything more.
