If you're looking to improve and/or restore your smile cosmetically, Dr. Chen is highly skilled in all aspects of Cosmetic and Implant Dentistry. We offer in-office whitening, porcelain veneers, porcelain crowns & bridges, and other metal-free restorative options. So if you're interested in cosmetically improving/enhancing your smile, be vocal and let us know. We can provide you with detailed treatment options and work with you to achieve your desired smile. Dr. Chen is available by appointment only, Tuesday-Friday from 8am-5pm, and Saturday from 8am-1pm (barring Holidays and Thanksgiving Weekend). Our office is primarily a fee-for-service office, but we do take and process most dental PPO insurances as a courtesy to our patients. We are "Out-of-Network" for ALL insurance companies so check with your insurance carrier to see if you're permitted to go to an out-of-network provider.

For the first time in 19-years, I am taking the entire week of Thanksgiving off. (Nov 21-Nov 29). My apologies for the inconvenience.

We will be back on Tuesday, Nov 30th. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Dear Patients,

I hope you all have been doing well, or as well as one possibly can under these circumstances. I realize that in the coming weeks, parts of the State will start to "reopen" in phases. However, due to the near-term shortage of PPE for the staff, I felt it best to keep my office closed for the month of May. Many hospital medical personnel are still battling PPE shortages. They're difficult to source and some of my colleagues have opted for more unconventional routes to source the supplies, whose quality and effectiveness may or may not be questionable.

The plan, and this may yet change, is to start seeing patients in some capacity starting at the beginning of June. We will do additional screening before patients are scheduled and seen. It will take awhile longer before we're back to "business as usual" so we ask for your patience and understanding. Your overall safety and well-being is our top priority. While teeth and gums are important, thank goodness they're fairly resilient as long as you're doing your part flossing and brushing regularly.

I look forward to being able to see all of you again in the near future. Keep practicing social-distancing until then.

Sincerely,

Julian W. Chen, DDS

Dear Patients,

The office will remain closed throughout the month of April (and possibly longer as we wait for further public health recommendations).

All dental offices have been advised to ONLY treat "life-threatening" dental emergencies at this time in order to protect the public, protect the dental providers/staff from being exposed and possibly spreading covid-19. Fortunately, majority of dental emergencies do not fall under the "life-threatening" category, which can be both good and bad. The bad being what might be annoying you will have to wait. But the good part is that it's not going to kill you.

Please continue to practice social distancing and try to stay at home as much as possible. If we all pretend that everyone is infected and infectious (including ourselves) and act accordingly, we can get past this sooner.

Sincerely,

Julian W. Chen, DDS + Staff

Dear Patients,

As of tonight, March 19th, California Department of Public Health has issued a Stay-at-Home order for the entire State. Our office has been voluntarily shutdown since Monday, March 16th for 2 weeks. However, in light of the order issued tonight by CDPH, we will continue to comply and our office will remain closed until the order has been lifted. Unfortunately, we don't know how long this will order will remain in place. Washington's order extends to Mid-May. Oregon's order is until Mid-June... thus far.

We've all been significantly inconvenienced and impacted in a multitude of ways. However, let's not forget that the purpose of all this is so that we can hopefully avoid a repeat of history; one that occurred from January 1918 - December 1920 (Spanish Flu), where 1/3 of the world was infected and an estimated 50 million people died.

So please be safe. We'll see each other on the other side of this.

Sincerely,

Julian W. Chen, DDS

Coronavirus COVID-19 Response

03/16/2020

Dear Patients,

Things sure change quickly these days. We will be suspending operations at the office for 2 weeks (possibly longer depending on how things pan out). Guidance has come down in the late hours of Sunday evening from California Dental Association recommending that dental offices suspend operations for 2 weeks.

While this has been a great inconvenience to all of our lives, in order to minimize potential spread, to help reduce the burden that our medical professionals will likely be facing in the coming weeks, we will do our part. In order to take care of each other, we need to also take care of ourselves. It's time to avoid unnecessary contact.

We plan to resume operations early April, but again, situation is fluid and changes can happen quickly. Keep your family safe and sound.

Sincerely,

Julian W. Chen, DDS

Dear Patients,

We wish and hope everyone's doing well during these unprecedented times. Just as an update, for the time being, our office will remain open. As we are a fee-for-service office, and not a "clinic", we have been and will continue to see patients by APPOINTMENTS only. This ensures that we minimize the number of people gathering or grouped up in close proximity as we observe social distancing.

We always follow strict guidelines with using our personal protective equipment to protect our patients and our staff. We have been doing so well before COVID-19 and we will continue to do so.

With that said, however, we ask that IF:
..you are not feeling well, please inform us and we can postpone/reschedule you for another time for when you feel better.
..you have a fever, or cough or other respiratory symptoms, that we exercise caution and stay home and self isolate until you feel much better.
..you have been traveling abroad, or have been in close contact with someone who has recently traveled abroad within the past 2 weeks, that it may be wise to postpone your appointment.

In these challenging times, we must accept some inconveniences as the norm until the nation and the world get a better handle of the situation. If we collectively do our parts and share in the responsibility, we can significantly minimize the community spread and reduce the threat to ourselves and our loved ones.

Sincerely,

Julian W. Chen, DDS
