If you've experienced cavities, gum disease, or bad breath, your oral microbiome has likely been in a state of dysbiosis (microbial imbalance). Dysbiosis doesn't stem from just one microbe; instead, it develops out of a broader change in your oral microecology. This sets the stage for oral diseases, gut problems and vulnerability to systemic health issues.

Mouth breathing, especially at a young age, can negatively change the trajectory of facial development, resulting in abnormalities that affect facial muscles and dental structure. Our noses naturally filter the air we breath, while mouth breathing leads to a build-up of bacteria in the mouth and respiratory system.

Ever noticed spacing between your child's baby teeth? That's a good thing – it means there's enough room for their adult teeth to come in comfortably. 🌟

However, if those baby teeth are perfectly aligned with no spacing, it means there will be trouble down the road. 😬

Without adequate spacing, your child may face issues with dental alignment and even airway health in the future. It's a sneak peek into potential challenges ahead. 🚨

Let’s address the elephant in the room—snoring. It’s time to debunk the myth that it’s just a harmless noise. 🚫 Despite how often it’s normalized, snoring can be a red flag for something more serious, like sleep-disordered breathing (SDB) or even sleep apnea.

Did you know that a snoring child is likely to grow into a snoring adult without proper intervention? It’s not just about a noisy night—it could be a sign of airway obstruction. Whether it’s nasal dysfunction, inflamed tonsils or adenoids, smaller jaws, or oral muscle issues, there’s often more than meets the eye.

At our office, we screen for SDB to identify potential signs of sleep apnea. If needed, we’ll connect you with a sleep doctor to get a proper diagnosis. Don’t ignore the signs—let’s work together to get to the root causes and create a path to better breathing, better sleep, and better health. 💬 🌿
