It was a pleasure for our team to welcome Assemblymember Diane Papan to the San Mateo offices of Sonrisas Dental Health and to brief her on the important and innovative work Sonrisas is doing in oral health access and health education.

As health care faces severe cuts nationally, we are proud to have elected leaders who are stepping up to protect access. We appreciate Assemblymember Papan's leadership making sure dental coverage continues under Medi-Cal for the current fiscal year, and we're thankful to have her partnership in continuing to fight for equitable dental care for the most vulnerable community members.

We also want to thank Peninsula Health Care District Board Chair Larry Cappel and CEO Ana Pulido for facilitating the visit and advocating for Sonrisas. Thank you, Assemblymember Papan and Senior Field Representative Sarah Phelps for visiting Sonrisas!

This week, Sonrisas launched our new partnership with MidPen Housing one of the Bay Area's largest providers of affordable housing with supportive services. During this pilot, Sonrisas outreach and clinical staff will be providing health education, dental screenings, and mobile dental services to seniors at MidPen's residents in Half Moon Bay. This partnership underscores our commitment to physical, geographical, and language accessibility for underserved community members. This week, we provided an education presentation - incorporating information in 3 languages: English, Spanish, and simplified Chinese - to residents to kick off our partnership, and we will follow it up with screening and on-site clinic days.
