Dear Patients and Colleagues,
This year marks 34 years of having had the privilege to practice dentistry, including the past 11 years serving the dental needs of the San Marcos community. As many of you know, I have experienced some recent health challenges. Last November, I developed a significant setback when a bulging disc in my neck ultimately required disc replacement surgery in May 2026. During this period, I had time to reflect on my health, my career, and what I wanted in the next chapter of my life. While I am grateful to be recovering well, this unexpected journey has led me to seriously consider what would be best for me, my family and my patients.
Then, a unique opportunity presented itself when I was introduced to an exceptional dentist, Dr. Chad Pexton, whom I immediately recognized as someone capable of continuing the high standard of care that you deserve. His clinical expertise, diagnostic philosophy, commitment to excellence, and genuine compassion for patients give me complete confidence that he is the right person to lead the practice into the future. I am excited to tell you more about this wonderful doctor.
Dr. Pexton is a graduate of Dalhousie University Faculty of Dentistry and has completed a postdoctoral residency in Advanced Education in General Dentistry at Idaho State University. This advanced training has allowed him to expand his clinical capabilities and offerings beyond basic comprehensive care to include advanced surgical procedures, implants, IV sedation, and same-day crowns. Prior to dental school, Dr. Pexton received his bachelor’s degree in Biology from Utah Valley University. He and his wife recently welcomed their first baby, and they are excited to put down roots here in San Diego where they are surrounded by family and support. Dr. Pexton has established a strong reputation for his high-quality work and compassionate chair-side manner, and I am confident that he will continue the excellent standard of care you trust our office to provide. Like me, he has a true passion for dentistry and is committed to helping patients achieve and maintain optimal oral health for a lifetime.
To ensure a seamless transition, Dr. Pexton and I will work closely together in reviewing ongoing treatment plans and patient care needs. While you may still see me in the office from time to time during the next six months, your future appointments will be scheduled with Dr. Pexton. I am confident that you will appreciate his professionalism, warmth, and commitment to excellence.
I am also pleased to share that our outstanding team will remain in place. The familiar faces you have come to know and trust will continue to provide the same exceptional service and support you have always received. They have enjoyed getting to know Dr. Pexton and are enthusiastic about the future of the practice.
Thank you for allowing me the privilege of being your dentist. I have truly loved practicing dentistry and have found so much meaning and fulfillment in caring for my patients over the past 34 years. While I am excited to begin my retirement, saying goodbye to my practice and to all of you will be bittersweet. One of the things I will miss most is the wonderful relationships I have built with so many of you.
With sincere gratitude and best wishes,
Dr. Susan Krylow
