🦷✨Please join us in welcoming Dr. Stephanie Lopez Alvarado to our practice!✨🦷

We are so excited to introduce our newest pediatric dentist! Growing up in Santa Cruz, Dr. Stephanie feels right at home here in SLO — drawn by the coast, the pace of life, and the community (plus it brings her closer to family, too 🥰).

Her path to pediatric dentistry started long before dental school, through community volunteering that shaped everything that came after. Mission trips to Ensenada, Mexico and Panama opened her eyes to how much a single dental visit could change a child's health and confidence — often for kids who had never seen a dentist before. That experience is what pointed her toward working with kids, and it followed her straight into dental school, where she volunteered with USC's Mobile Dental Clinic, bringing care to underserved communities across California.

"Kids are light-hearted and silly, they make it easy to connect, and I'm always learning something new from them," she says. "Every day in this field is different, and that's exactly why I chose it."

Her Education:
🎓 Doctorate of Dental Surgery — USC Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry
🎓 Pediatric Dental Residency — USC Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry
🎓 Second-year training at Children's Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA), treating medically complex patients and kids with special health care needs
🎓 B.S. in Biological Sciences (Human Biology) — UC Merced

She's a proud member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, California Dental Association, and California Society of Pediatric Dentistry, and speaks both English and Spanish with her patients and families.

Outside the office, Dr. Stephanie is always up for an adventure — she's gone skydiving over Hawaii's North Shore and hot air ballooning over Mexico City! When she's not traveling or hiking, you'll find her at the dog park with her two pups, Chavo and Gremlin, or spending time with her six nieces and nephews who keep her on her toes. 🐾

April Fools’ Day fun at Coastal Pediatric Dentistry! 🤪🦷

Our team showed up in full prank mode today — mismatched socks, crazy hair, different shoes, backwards clothes, and every pattern imaginable. The office looked like a fashion tornado hit… and we loved every minute of it!

But the real challenge for our brave patients? Choosing their toothpaste flavor. 😆
