There is something incredibly fulfilling about standing in front of UCSF’s fourth-year dental students each year to lecture on Functional Aesthetic Dentistry.
Sharing the knowledge, lessons, successes, and challenges I’ve gained over more than two decades in private practice is one of the greatest privileges of my career. Yet every time I teach, I am reminded of something even more important: how much there is still to learn. The more I know, the more curious I become.
I truly believe that the best educators are lifelong students. Every lecture challenges me to think differently, answer thoughtful questions, and continue refining my own understanding. In many ways, I learn just as much from teaching as I hope my students learn from me.
My goal is to inspire future dentists to think beyond individual teeth to understand the harmony between biology, function, structure, and aesthetics and to provide comprehensive care that changes lives.
A heartfelt thank you to Dr. Diana Nguyen for inviting me back each year and for trusting me to be part of both the didactic education and the clinical journey of our future colleagues. It is an honor and a responsibility that I deeply cherish.
