Happy 2025! 🎉

As we look back on 2024 and its many highlights, we are excited to share with you a more recent one.

At the November meeting of the American Academy of Periodontology, Dr Pasquinelli was presented with the “Master Clinician Award”.
Since 1987 this award has been given annually to one periodontist that “has practiced and demonstrated consistent clinical excellence in periodontics and who has willingly and unselfishly shared that expertise with members of the profession”. It is the highest clinical accolade in the field of periodontics.

Dr Pasquinelli is only the 37th periodontist to be given this award!

[Types of Grafts :: Allograft]

•Allograft or donor tissue graft, is used similarly to the patient's own connective tissue.

•Donor Tissue is surgically inserted into a tunnel and pulled tight over the root.

•Whether the patient is a candidate for donor tissue depends on the severity of recession and thickness of the existing tissue.

•In many cases it can work just as well as the patient's own connective tissue.

•Root coverage is possible.

This is a healed connective tissue graft. The surrounding tissue is loosened and pulled down over the root of the teeth. Collagen is inserted underneath for thickness. The collagen is in the form of connective tissue transplanted from the patient’s palate. Color and esthetics are excellent and it is usually impossible to tell that any surgery was done. This takes years off the teeth!

Connective tissue can be used when root coverage is desired and is the preferred choice material in a compromised situation or around dental implants.
