☀️ Hello, Summer! ☀️
With school out and summer fun in full swing, many kids find themselves snacking more often throughout the day. While snacks can help keep little ones energized, choosing the right foods can make a big difference for both their overall health and their smiles!
🧀 Our favorite snack choices are foods that contain protein and healthy fats, which help kids stay full longer and are generally kinder to their teeth than frequent sugary or sticky snacks.
Great options include:
🍿 Popcorn (for children old enough to safely eat it)
🧀 Cheese
🥜 Nuts
🥣 Plain or low-sugar yogurt
These snacks can help reduce constant sugar exposure on teeth and support healthy growth and development.
🍉 Remember: It’s not just what kids eat, but how often they snack. Frequent snacking throughout the day gives cavity-causing bacteria more opportunities to produce acid that can harm teeth.
Wishing all our families a fun, healthy, and smile-filled summer! 😎🦷
Note: If you’d like to be extra cautious, you may want to leave popcorn off the list for younger children since it can be a choking hazard. You could substitute hard-boiled eggs or hummus as another protein-rich snack option.
