I have been honored to create and lead a leadership study club for early career dentists with the San Diego County San Diego Dental Society. We have such a talented, intelligent and compassionate group of young dentists in our cohort. These doctors will learn best leadership practices, along with values setting, assertiveness training, and enhanced communication skills. I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to help shape the future of dentistry!

Last night, we officially kicked off our New Dentist Leadership Study Club with Dr. Megan Clarke! ✨

This monthly program is designed for dentists in their first 10 years of practice who want to strengthen their leadership skills, clarify their values, and set meaningful goals. Through four interactive sessions, participants gain practical strategies, peer support, and tools to lead with purpose.

We can’t wait to see how this group grows and applies these insights in meaningful ways throughout their careers!

When I first stepped into leadership as a dental practice owner at 28, I’ll be honest—I felt unprepared.

I could diagnose, treatment plan, and work a handpiece with confidence… but navigating team dynamics? Communicating through conflict? Creating a culture people actually wanted to be part of?

No one taught us that. They tried, but nothing prepares you for that sense of overwhelm that comes with being the person responsible for all the decisions.

In those early years, I made mistakes. I avoided hard conversations. I struggled with self confidence and imposter syndrome. And I remember thinking, “Why does everyone else seem to know how to do this?”

Spoiler: they didn’t. Most of us are figuring it out as we go.

That realization changed everything for me.

It’s why I created White Coat Leaders—so dentists don’t have to feel alone in the parts of practice ownership and leadership that no one prepared us for.

Here, we’re going to talk about the real side of dentistry:

✔ leading with clarity
✔ building trust
✔ handling conflict
