West Coast Oral Surgery

West Coast Oral Surgery Oral and maxillofacial surgeons are dental specialists who are trained to treat disorders of the jaws and related facial structures.

OMS industry leaders utilizing state-of-the-art technology and pain management techniques to expertly remove wisdom teeth, place implants with precision, and perform careful dental extractions as well as sophisticated maxillofacial surgery. Dr. Matin is the new owner of West Coast Oral Surgery in 2020 following the retirement of Dr. Chang who still helps administer the practice and collaborates wi

th patient care planning. Our office utilizes state-of-the-art technology and pain management techniques to expertly remove wisdom teeth, place implants with precision, and perform skillful dental extractions in addition to sophisticated maxillofacial surgeries such as jaw and facial reconstruction. Prior to becoming an oral and maxillofacial surgeon, one must first complete dental school and receive a doctorate degree in dentistry (D.D.S.). An oral and maxillofacial surgeon must then complete either a four-year or six-year accredited residency program to become a certified specialist. An oral and maxillofacial surgeon who completes a six-year program will have received a medical degree by completing medical school, and will have completed a one-year medical internship (usually in general surgery). The scope of oral and maxillofacial surgery practice includes the diagnosis and medical or surgical management of diseases, injuries, and structural abnormalities of the jaws and related facial structures. The range of treatment that an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon can provide depends on his level of training and experience.

🧭 Planning Surgery Like a GPS Route? Yep—we do that.

As a maxillofacial surgeon, I use navigation-assisted surgery to plan every detail before I even make an incision.

Here's how it works:

📸 We start with 3D imaging🧠 I pre-plan the surgery using advanced software🎥 During surgery, overhead cameras track my instruments in real time🖥️ Everything syncs together so I can see exactly where I'm operating on a monitor

Just like GPS:

🗺️ The surgical plan = the route🛠️ My instruments = the car📍 The screen = real-time navigation

This tech helps me make surgeries more precise, minimally invasive, and ensures patients recover faster and safer.

👅 Tongue Bump? Here’s What It Could Be.

This patient came in with a small growth on their tongue — diagnosed as a papilloma, often caused by a common virus (HPV).

While usually benign, it’s important to remove and biopsy growths like this to rule out anything serious.🔪 Treatment: Surgical removal (simple, quick, and effective!)

If you notice a bump or change in your mouth that doesn’t go away, don’t wait—get it checked. Early care = peace of mind.

✨ Rebuilding the Smile from the Foundation Up ✨🦷

This patient lost all of their upper front teeth, but with the power of modern oral surgery, we’re able to lay the groundwork for a future healthy, functional, and beautiful smile.

Here’s what we did:

🔹 Bone grafting using the patient’s own bone (autograft)
🔹 Advanced membrane technique to guide healing
🔹 Boosted regeneration with PRP (platelet-rich plasma) therapy
This isn’t just oral surgery—it’s the art of restoring confidence. 💪
