🦷 Restoring a Smile Damaged by Years of Wear

This patient came to us with six severely worn-down front teeth. After being diagnosed with sleep apnea, we were able to better understand some of the factors that may have contributed to the damage.

Sleep-disordered breathing can sometimes be associated with mouth breathing, dry mouth, bruxism (clenching and grinding), and changes in oral posture. Over time, these factors can contribute to accelerated tooth wear and may also increase the risk of gum irritation and recession, especially when combined with other causes.

For this smile transformation, we restored the six anterior teeth with 6 Lava™ full-coverage crowns, rebuilding the lost tooth structure while improving function, proportions, and esthetics. ✨

The goal wasn’t simply to make the teeth look better—it was to restore what years of wear had taken away.

Sleep apnea doesn’t just affect your sleep. In some patients, signs of sleep-disordered breathing may also show up in the mouth. If we see significant wear, grinding, dry mouth, or recession, it’s worth looking at the bigger picture. 💤🦷

✨ Meet Caroline one of our amazing hygienists! 🌿

Born and raised in the beautiful Pacific Northwest, she grew up with a twin brother and a father who dedicated his life to medicine — so a career in healthcare was always close to her heart. When she discovered dental hygiene, she knew she’d found her calling.

She earned her degree from Loma Linda University School of Dentistry and has made Southern California her home — trading Oregon’s evergreens for beach days, live concerts, and all the sunshine SoCal has to offer. ☀️🎶🌊

What truly lights her up? Caring for patients who need it most — especially those who’ve had a hard time accessing consistent hygiene care. She meets every patient with patience, compassion, and a genuine commitment to their health.
