ROOM TO BE A KID. 💜

A trip to the dentist doesn’t have to mean sitting quietly and waiting for your name to be called.

We created our office with kids in mind, including plenty of opportunities to play, explore, and have a little fun while they’re here.

Because when kids associate the dentist with good experiences, it can make walking through those doors a whole lot easier the next time.

And if they’re having so much fun they don’t want to leave? We’ll take that as a compliment. 😂

YOUR KID WANTS TO BRUSH THEIR OWN TEETH. SHOULD YOU LET THEM?

“I can do it myself!”

Absolutely. Letting kids practice brushing is a great way to build independence and make taking care of their teeth part of their normal routine.

But being willing to do it and being able to do it thoroughly are two different things.

Most younger kids still need a parent to help or do a quick second pass because they’re still developing the hand skills needed to reach every surface well.

A good compromise? Let them go first. Then you get a turn to make sure nothing was missed.

They get the independence. You get the peace of mind.

We took the day off yesterday to celebrate our team with our Annual End of Summer Party! The doctors and manager,Selanie, started the day with massages at Loma De Vida. We then met the team at Sunny’s in the Rim for a delicious brunch, mimosas, treats and gifts!!!We also had a mini wedding shower for Janae who will be getting married next weekend! It was an AWESOME day and we loved celebrating our team’s hard work all summer!!! Such a gift to work with these fabulous ladies! ☀️😎❤️🎉

LABOR DAY WEEKEND STARTS NOW! ☀️

The backpacks made it through the first couple of weeks. The lunchboxes have already gone missing at least once. Everyone is officially back in the school routine.

You’ve earned the long weekend.

Whether your plans include the pool, a backyard cookout, a road trip, or three glorious days with absolutely nowhere to be, we hope your family gets a chance to have some fun and recharge.

And yes, bedtime might get a little later this weekend. Just don’t let the toothbrush take the weekend off too. 😂

THE GREAT TOOTHPASTE STANDOFF

Your child hates mint toothpaste. Does that mean every morning and bedtime has to become a negotiation?

Nope.

Kids do not need mint flavor for toothpaste to do its job. There are plenty of fluoride toothpastes made for kids in flavors like strawberry, watermelon, bubblegum, and other less intense options.

The important thing is choosing an age-appropriate fluoride toothpaste and using the right amount, not convincing your child that mint is somehow mandatory.

If switching flavors turns brushing from a nightly battle into something they will actually do, that is a win.

WHO REALLY BRUSHES FOR TWO FULL MINUTES? ⏱️

Two minutes doesn’t sound very long until you hand a kid a toothbrush.

Then suddenly 30 seconds feels like an eternity. 😂

But those two minutes give kids enough time to actually reach all the different surfaces of their teeth instead of doing a lightning-fast lap around the front ones and calling it done.

Try turning it into a challenge tonight. Set a two-minute timer and see who can make it all the way to the end without quitting early.

MYTH BUSTED: “BABY TEETH DON’T REALLY MATTER. THEY’RE GOING TO FALL OUT ANYWAY.” 🦷

They may be temporary, but their job definitely isn’t.

Baby teeth help kids chew, speak clearly, and hold space for the permanent teeth developing underneath them. Losing one too early can sometimes allow neighboring teeth to shift into that space, leaving less room for the adult tooth that’s supposed to come in later.

And a cavity in a baby tooth can still hurt, become infected, and need treatment long before that tooth is ready to fall out naturally.

Temporary teeth. Very real job.

Losing a tooth used to mean waking up to a quarter under your pillow.

These days? The Tooth Fairy may need a financial advisor. 😂

Some kids get a dollar. Some get five. Some apparently have a Tooth Fairy with a much larger operating budget.

We want to know what’s happening in San Antonio households right now. How much does the Tooth Fairy leave at your house?
