Why celebrating Juneteenth is more important now than ever...

The Civil War came to a close in 1865, a number of people remained enslaved, especially in remote areas. Word of slavery’s end traveled slowly, and for those who were largely isolated from Union armies, life continued as if freedom did not exist.

This was especially the case in Texas, where thousands of slaves were not made aware of freedom until June 19, 1865, when Union Gen. Gordon Granger arrived in Galveston and issued an order officially freeing them.

Their celebration would serve as the basis of June 19 — or Juneteenth — a holiday celebrating emancipation in the US
In many ways, Juneteenth represents how freedom and justice in the US have always been delayed for black people. The decades after the end of the war would see a wave of lynching, imprisonment, and Jim Crow laws take root.

What followed was the disproportionate impact of mass incarceration, discriminatory housing policies, and a lack of economic investment.

Don’t Let Your Cavities Turn Into Root Canels! 💰

🦷Root canal therapy is much more involved than a simple filling, and it’s also more costly. The best way to prevent the need for a root canal is to take good care of your teeth with regular brushing and flossing, attend dental check-ups regularly, and get cavities filled as soon as possible.

🦷Once the tooth has started decay, the problem will only get worse. The longer you wait to fill a cavity, the more likely it becomes that you will need a root canal to repair the damage to the tooth

🦷There are three layers of the tooth: enamel (the top layer), dentin (middle layer) and nerve tissue (deepest layer).

🦷If your tooth has decayed to the enamel or dentin, a simple filling is enough to repair the cavity.

🦷However, if the cavity is left untreated, the decay will reach the deepest layer of the tooth, the nerve tissue. At this point, a root canal is necessary to repair the tooth.

Overall, the goal of regular cleaning is preventative maintenance and the goal of a deep teeth cleaning is to stop the progression of gum disease.
