True story bro.

what was even more interesting about this case, what is the fact that this gentleman didn’t realize it was staining and that it didn’t always look like that. Or at least that’s what he said when I showed him the stain.

He was a new patient who had allegedly always had brown roots like that. I handed in the mouth mirror scaled off a little bit and said your roots absolutely do not look like this.

So we discussed some possible oral hygiene changes to his routine and we’ll see how things look at his next appointment.

’s just say I’m not a fan of blue or green mouthwash.

There’s a lot skills that we learn clinically especially when we work in an office that allows you to be more and do more.

Working directly with an assistant has definitely made me work on communication skills and leadership to work together as a team to create a fun working environment and provide a fun experience for patients.

There definitely hard days and challenges but there’s a lot of skills to be learned as an RDH that can be transferred into corporate.

To any hygienist wanting to move beyond clinical for their future you should I absolutely be considering RDH-UOR Evolution this summer to start that process.

Have you ever thought about nasal Hygiene as a critical element to oral hygiene?

really made me think about how I approach patients oral health. I think long gone are the days of “ brush and floss” to achieve oral health.

There’s way too many things at play and let’s be real mouth breathing has become a huge overlooked problem for a lot of of our patients.

We know that mouth breathing has a higher associated risk for developing carries. It dries out our oral mucosa. But also indicates some airway issues.

These may or may not be signs includes that you’ve ever thought of before, but the impact is very real. As I explain in this video, I don’t love nasal sprays for the sensation, but that doesn’t mean a clean nasal passage isn’t important especially during allergy season. The product that I found is the .life band.

it’s a super cool, very simple and relaxing way to alleviate sinus congestion opening up those nasal passages to allow for easier nasal breathing at night time

CDA! Always an incredible turnout!

Still processing and decompressing from all the incredible conversations with dental professionals the past 3 days.

It’s amazing to get to be a part of such an amazing and dynamic team and truly my heart is so full to be part of the changes happening in our industry.

Most days I’m grateful for people showing up to help me out with patients but 3 weeks of a new person/personality/training and it’s wearing thin.

Trust me when I say, I do still occasionally temp and it’s always great reminder of what it’s like to be a guest in someone’s office but the newness of a new person everyday is wearing me down.

adventure of having temp hygiene assistants while mine is out on maternity leave.

There’s been some absolutely amazing temps that have given me hope (hygiene students) and then there was this guy…

I know we all have our own unique techniques of certain dental procedures that we do to help patients have better experiences. But sometimes when you’re a guest another Dental Office, how you go about doing those techniques really makes all the difference in the world..
