We’re thrilled to announce the return of Dr. Jay Bhakta to our New Horizons Dental Care team!

Dr. Jay Bhakta is proud to return to Kansas and serve the Salina community as part of the team at New Horizons Dental Care. After spending the past several years practicing dentistry in Texas, Dr. Jay and his family are grateful to be back in Salina with the newest addition to their family and look forward to becoming part of the community once again.

Originally from Kansas, Dr. Jay is known for his calm, compassionate approach to patient care. He believes every patient deserves to feel comfortable, heard, and treated like family. His laidback demeanor and focus on clear communication help even the most anxious patients feel at ease during their dental visits. He believes trust, communication, and personalized care are the foundation of excellent dentistry.

Dr. Jay received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Missouri - Kansas City in 2021 and completed an Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency at Wichita State University. His advanced clinical training provided extensive experience in comprehensive dental care, surgical procedures, and advanced treatment planning alongside some of the region's top dental specialists.

Dedicated to lifelong learning and providing modern, high-quality care, Dr. Jay enjoys helping patients improve both their oral health and confidence through personalized treatment tailored to each individual's needs to create healthy, lasting smiles.

Outside of dentistry, Dr. Jay enjoys cooking a variety of cuisines, exploring walking trails, collecting retro Pokémon memorabilia, and spending time with his wife, son, and loved ones.

Dr. Jay is honored to care for patients in Salina and looks forward to building lasting relationships within the community.

Today being National Runners Day, we wish to acknowledge and celebrate the enthusiasm for running exhibited by some of our team members. Here are their stories.

“Running is one of my favorite ways to take care of both my mind and body. It lifts my mood, provides mental clarity, and gives me a chance to connect with nature. Being outdoors while improving my health makes every run feel like a win-win." -Lindsey

I started running to prove to myself that, even with asthma, I could do something physically challenging. I ran one 5K and thought that would be it. Then, I found friends to run with, and one 5K led to more, and eventually I ran the Chicago Marathon! Now, I run to keep challenging myself and to show up for my dog Olive, who loves running." -Taylor

"I started running to manage the stress of dental school and, later, of being a mom with three kids in 3.5 years. I loved the way I felt afterwards, and the great places I got to see when I was out on training runs and during races. I gained confidence and liked the community of adventurous, active people I was hanging out with. Over the years, I've run one marathon, 13 half-marathons, one 1/2 Ironman, and countless 5Ks and 10Ks. It's become part of who I am!" -Dr. Kate

This photograph is a heartwarming reminder of the New Horizons Dental Care team's carnival in a 2010 to help raise money for Smiles for Life, one of our preferred charitable organizations. The photo features Leanne with her daughter Amara, Dr. Kate with two of her children, Gunnar and Kallia, and Melissa, who is wearing a pink shirt. This event was one of many memorable team bonding experiences. Additionally, two of those children have since become employees with our team. Amara and Kallia.
