Dental Service Technician

JOB OVERVIEW
As a service tech, you’re committed to minimizing dental equipment downtime and providing exceptional customer service. With a mind for maintenance, you’ll not only find and implement solutions, you can advise customers on best practices. Patterson Service Technicians have an independent mindset and desire to repair, assemble, and disconnect mechanical equipment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
• Determine parts, supplies or tools needed to complete service requests and using, maintaining, and securing test devices and tools used to adjust, calibrate and repair equipment.
• Managing vehicle inventory and restocking as necessary.
• Ensuring proper vehicle maintenance guidelines and safe driving habits are followed.
• Repairing equipment to meet manufacturer’s specifications as well as all company, OSHA or other agencies’ policies related to asepsis.
• Providing technical support after initial installation of equipment, PC software and hardware and ensuring that service commitments are met within standard response time.
• Other duties as related to the Service Technician position.

Mississippi and Louisiana dentists,

As winter weather is upon us, here are a few tips regarding your dental practice.

1. Back up your practice management (and imaging) data. With power outages and power fluctuation, computers, onsite storage, scheduled cloud backups, and networks can be affected. Freezing water in city electrical components such as transformers can cause unusual voltage issues.
2. Disconnect power sensitive equipment like expensive lasers, 2D and 3D x-ray units, CADCAM components, other computer items, and others. Simply unplug if necessary. Contact your local Patterson service department for guidance.
3. Trickle water in a faucet in your office. A “closed” pipe system in building doesn’t allow for freezing water expansion. Moving water is less likely to freeze, and a dripping faucet allows any pressure to release through the faucet instead of potentially cracking a pipe.
4. Water sensitive equipment items. If at all possible, and correctly, turn off and disconnect critical water usage equipment like vacuum pumps. That task might not be realistic for everyone, so keeping the room that houses your vacuum pump and compressor (some components hold moisture) above freezing is critical. Heating the room safely is a good option. A last resort would be to keep the items running and check on them periodically. The heat generated by the equipment and water usage may save your mechanical room items. Contact your local Patterson technical service department for guidance.
5. Our technical service team availability and safety. We will go to all safe and necessary extents to visit your office for emergency repairs and help with weather/temperature affected equipment. However, we ask for your understanding. Road conditions, road closures, and geography may interfere with service technicians travel and available time. A video call (skype, facetime) or a phone call may be a good alternative method to diagnose and give you the confidence that your equipment in good working order.
