85% of wisdom teeth removed in America are unnecessary. Here’s what your dentist isn’t telling you 👇
You go in for a cleaning. Dentist takes X-rays. “Your wisdom teeth need to come out.” “But they don’t hurt.” “They will. Let’s remove them now.” This is a $2,000 scam.
Wisdom tooth extraction is a $1,500-$3,000 procedure. Multiply that across the millions performed annually. The math is obvious.
When they actually need to come out — impacted, infected, damaging adjacent teeth, cysts forming. When they don’t — fully erupted and functional, no pain, plenty of space, not affecting other teeth.
“But won’t they cause crowding?” No. Studies show wisdom teeth don’t cause crowding. Teeth shift due to jaw growth, tongue posture, grinding. Not wisdom teeth.
In Europe they don’t routinely remove wisdom teeth. Only when there’s a problem. In the US, 85% are removed. Most unnecessarily.
Preventive removal is unnecessary surgery with real risks. Nerve damage causing permanent numbness. Dry socket. Jaw fracture. Sinus issues.
Get a second opinion, preferably from a biological dentist. Ask what’s the specific reason for removal. If asymptomatic, monitor with yearly X-rays. Remove only if problems develop.
Don’t let anyone scare you into surgery you don’t need.
Follow — your wisdom teeth might be perfectly fine and a second opinion could save you thousands
