Do you still have questions about teeth whitening? 🧐

✨ We’ve got answers! Welcome to Part 2 of Whitening 101, where we’re breaking down some of the most common questions about whitening. ✨

✔️Why can’t I seem to get my teeth as white as I want them?

Whitening results vary from person to person, and it doesn’t always mean you are doing anything wrong! 😃
Think of it like tanning—some people naturally develop a deeper tan, while others may see less change.
Factors such as the natural shade of your teeth, how consistently you follow your whitening routine, your diet and consumption of staining foods and beverages, and how well you maintain your overall oral hygiene can all influence your results. 🪥

👑 Crowns, veneers, and fillings cannot be whitened, as only natural teeth are affected by the whitening material.

✔️How long do whitening results last?

Whitening results can last anywhere from 6 months to 2 years, slowly diminishing over time.

It depends on your diet and consumption of staining foods and beverages, whether you use to***co, and how well you maintain your overall oral hygiene.
For example, if you are a devoted coffee drinker, the whitening results will not last as long as someone who only drinks water. ☕️

Whitening is not a permanent fix and does require touch-ups to help maintain the results. 🤩

✔️What if I have sensitive teeth?

Whitening treatment can still be done if you have sensitive teeth. Sensitivity is a common side effect of whitening. 👍

To help reduce sensitivity, a sensitive toothpaste can be used, along with reducing the percentage of whitening gel and the amount of time the trays are worn.
Whitening trays can also be worn every other day to further help minimize sensitivity.

However, it is still important to be consistent with whitening, as the material needs consistent, repeated exposure over a certain time frame to be effective. 🥳

✨ Tooth fairies are so special that they also have a day celebrated in February as well! ✨

The tradition of tooth fairy didn’t come around until the early 1900s with the idea that it would help encouraged kids to wiggle out their teeth. 💸

Kids typically start losing their baby teeth around age 6, and they usually fall out in the same order they first came in.

A fun fact is that some adults still have a baby tooth! 🦷

💡Have you ever thought about whitening your teeth and wondered what it is and the science behind it? 🤔

✔️What is whitening?
Teeth whitening is a cosmetic procedure done to remove stains from the teeth. It is done by using over the counter products, Opalescence Go Prefilled Teeth Whitening Trays Kit, or using whitening gel dispensed into custom made trays.

✔️How does whitening material work?
Common materials used are hydrogen or carbamide peroxide. Teeth whitening works by lifting stains from inside your teeth, not just from the surface. 🦷
The whitening gel releases oxygen molecules that travel through the outer layer of your tooth (enamel) and into the layer beneath it (dentin), where many stains are trapped.
The oxygen molecules break apart the stain molecules, making them less visible and leaving your entire tooth looking brighter and whiter.

✔️What causes staining?
Many everyday foods and drinks can stain your teeth over time. Coffee, tea, red w**e, and to***co are common causes of discoloration. 🍷☕️
Poor oral hygiene habits can also allow stains to build up. Foods with strong colors, such as tomato-based pasta sauce, soy sauce, berries, and turmeric, may also contribute to staining. Brushing, flossing, and regular dental cleanings can help keep your smile brighter. 👑
