Your dental insurance is less “insurance” and more “coupon book.” 📖🦷

Most plans give you a limited amount of money to use toward dental care each year. Once that benefit is used, that’s it. And if you don’t use it before the end of the year, you may lose it.

And now that it’s October… well, the calendar isn’t exactly on our side. There are only a few months left to use those benefits, so now is the time to find out what your plan actually covers.

Insurance may help with some of your care, but it isn’t designed to cover everything. Plan ahead, save for dental needs, or use HSA/FSA funds for eligible dental care, whitening, and products like toothbrushes.

We’ll help review benefits and pursue prior authorizations when needed, but your insurance is ultimately your responsibility. We also participate with CareCredit for additional payment flexibility.

Know your benefits. Know your limits. Then make a plan before the year runs out.

Sometimes, you just want a fresh start. 🙌

This patient came to us unhappy with her smile, and there was more going on than simply wanting a cosmetic change. Years of wear and erosion had affected the shape and appearance of her teeth, while areas of decay needed attention, too.

Her treatment included 18 veneers and 2 crowns, giving us the opportunity to address both the aesthetics and the structural needs of her smile.

Veneers helped restore shape, symmetry, and overall appearance, while crowns provided added strength and coverage for teeth that needed more support.

Breast cancer treatments, including chemotherapy and radiation, can cause oral side effects like dry mouth, mouth sores, increased sensitivity, and a higher risk of infection. With October being Dental Hygiene Month, let’s talk about the part of your mouth your toothbrush might be skipping.

When you brush, do not just scrub the teeth you can see. Brush your mouth. Plaque loves to hang out along the gumline, where your toothbrush can miss it and where bacteria can contribute to gum inflammation and tooth decay.

Your gumline is like the baseboards of your house. You would not clean the middle of the floor and call it done. The edges need attention too.

Angle your toothbrush toward the gumline, use gentle circular motions, and take your time around every tooth. Then floss daily to clean the spaces your toothbrush cannot reach.

Your teeth may get all the attention, but your gums are part of the smile too. Give your whole mouth the clean it deserves this Dental Hygiene Month! 🦷✨

When you chew gum with Xylitol, it can help reduce cavity-causing bacteria in your mouth. Xylitol is a natural sweetener that bacteria cannot use the same way they use regular sugar, making it harder for those cavity-causing bacteria to thrive.

This patient came in wanting an updated look and a smile that felt more refreshed. After trying whitening and not getting the results she was hoping for, we explored another option that could create a more noticeable, lasting change.

Q4 starts October 1st… which means fall is in full swing. 🎃☕

The sweaters come out, the pumpkin candles get lit, the favorite fall movies get replayed for the 23rd time, and suddenly everyone is planning cozy nights, family gatherings, holiday travel, and way too many baked goods.

A little work in the right places can create a big reason to smile. 😁

Years of wear and breakage had left this patient feeling self conscious every time she smiled or spoke. By restoring just four teeth with custom crowns and repairing two others with simple fillings, we were able to dramatically improve both the appearance and function of her smile.

While there is still more treatment ahead to support her overall oral health, this was a meaningful first step. She can now smile, laugh, and carry on conversations without constantly thinking about hiding her teeth.
