We use them twice a day, everyday, but when did toothbrushes become our tools for oral health? 🤔

Most historians agree that the first toothbrushes—which were frayed twigs—appeared as early as ancient Babylonian and Egyptian times between 3500-3000 B.C. From there, it’s believed that early Chinese oral health advocates created the first natural bristle toothbrushes with pig's hair.

The evolution continued through the 18th and 19th centuries before the design of the modern toothbrush came to be. 😄

Choose meals over snacks - your teeth will thank you later! 🥘

If you do snack, choose something that is healthy like fruit or vegetables! Foods that are eaten as part of a meal cause less harm to teeth than eating lots of snacks throughout the day, because more saliva is released during a meal. Saliva helps wash foods from the mouth and lessens the effects of acids, which can harm teeth and cause cavities.

At HAMMONS DENTAL, we never underestimate the power of a healthy diet. To learn more dental health tips, don't hesitate to contact our office.
