🌿 Mouth Matters with Dr. Sun 🌿

Pericoronitis is inflammation around a partially erupted tooth, most often a wisdom tooth, when food and bacteria get trapped under the gum flap. It can cause pain, swelling, bad breath, a bad taste, and sometimes trouble opening the mouth.

If you notice swelling, fever, pus, or difficulty swallowing, don’t wait — those can be signs that you need prompt dental care.

Healthy smiles start with early attention and gentle care. 💛

Mission of Mercy in Jacksonville 💛

Little Love Pediatric Dentistry is so grateful to be part of a team serving our community through Florida Mission of Mercy and working alongside Drs. Stephen Cochran, Flavio Soares, Shane Fisher, and Natalie Carr-Bustillo. Days like this remind us why we do what we do: caring for patients, collaborating with incredible volunteers, and helping make dental care more accessible for those who need it most. Mouth Matters with Dr. Sun: Tackling Primary Herpetic Gingivostomatitis

In today’s episode of Mouth Matters with Dr. Sun, we dive into Primary Herpetic Gingivostomatitis—a common viral infection in young children caused by type 1 herpes simplex virus, often triggered by a first cold sore exposure. It leads to painful mouth sores, swollen gums, fever, and drooling, typically hitting kids aged 6 months to 5 years, but early recognition helps manage symptoms fast.

💕 At Little Love Pediatric Dentistry, we are deeply committed to giving back to our community. Dr. Sun is proud to be volunteering again at the 2026 Florida Mission of Mercy (FLA-MOM), joining fellow dental professionals from all specialties to provide essential, free dental care to those in need.

FLA-MOM is the state’s largest charitable dental clinic, offering care to the underserved and uninsured at no cost. This year’s event will take place right here in Jacksonville at the Prime Osborn Convention Center on May 15–16, 2026.

We are honored to participate in this impactful initiative and look forward to contributing to better oral health for our neighbors.

We’re overflowing with gratitude for the amazing turnout from our St. Johns families. From delicious food and an incredible raffle with amazing prizes, to face painting, balloon art, chair massages, and so much fun for the kids and parents, the whole community came together and had a blast.

Kids loved the balloon arts by Justin Reams & Twist of Fun and face painting by Jessica Johnson & First Coast Face Paint! Parents relaxed with massages by Amy Dodwell & Spiritualized Warrior. Everyone enjoyed yummy hot plates by Annie Davis & Hungry Roaming and rice crispy treats by Marion Burton Lampson!
