Valentine’s Day treats don’t have to be rough on your teeth. Try sugar-free chocolate, yogurt-covered fruit, or nuts instead of sticky, sugary candy to keep enamel happy. 🦷 ❤️

Choosing tooth-friendly treats helps you enjoy the holiday without extra enamel wear. A little planning goes a long way for a healthy smile.

Stress doesn’t just affect your mood. It can lead to teeth grinding, jaw clenching, and ongoing tension that puts extra pressure on your bite and jaw. 😬

Over time, that stress can cause soreness, headaches, and worn teeth. Regular dental care can catch these signs early, and tools like night guards help protect your teeth while you sleep.

Have you ever noticed jaw tension or grinding during stressful times? Share your experience below.

Old toothbrushes don’t clean as well as you might think. Worn bristles cant reach plaque effectively and can even hold onto bacteria over time.

Swapping your toothbrush every three to four months helps keep your daily cleaning effective and supports better oral health between dental visits.

When was the last time you replaced your toothbrush? Let us know in the comments! 🪥

Crowns, fillings, and veneers are built to last, but hard foods can still take a toll. Biting into tough snacks or unpopped kernels can chip or crack dental work over time.

Even small impacts can loosen restorations and cause sensitivity, so it’s important to be mindful of what you chew.

Have you ever had dental work affected by something you ate? Tell us about it in the comments!

Our Story

Salt Run Family Dentistry is owned and operated by Dr. Mickey Leth, Dr. Bert Tavary, and Dr. Sabrina Wall. As dentists in St. Augustine, they love getting to know patients. Dr. Leth was born and raised right here in town and has been improving the oral health of his neighbors for over two decades now. After receiving his Doctor of Dental Medicine from the University of Florida, he went on to complete continuing education in many dental specialties. He’s joined by Dr. Tavary, who has been serving the St. Augustine community for over 35 years. Before graduating from the Emory University College of Dentistry, he served as the Crew Chief in the U.S. Navy Blue Angels! They’re both joined by Dr. Sabrina Wall, who knew she wanted to be in the medical field since she was very young. After graduating from Ohio State University to earn her dental degree, she was stationed in Fort Bragg in the U.S. Army and has since completed 400 hours of continuing education in all dental focuses.
