Throwback Toothday: The dental hygiene profession has come a long way since the time of practicing without gloves, masks, and eye protection. As was noted in 100, the ADHA’s book looking back at the profession’s first 100 years, during the 1970s when this photo was taken, the emphasis was placed upon maintaining polished shoes and keeping hair off of one’s shoulders. This changed in 1993 when OSHA deemed that these protective barriers were necessary to prevent occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens that dental offices were mandated to cover up.
Times have definitely changed for all of us. Here at Drs Harshbarger & Roberson we are taking every precaution in protecting our staff and patients especially during this time.
