REMEMBERING 9/11-Last survivor rescued 🙏
Trapped for 27 Hours
Genelle Guzman-McMillan was buried under rubble, with only her left arm free. She suffered severe leg injuries, head trauma, and was wedged so her head could not move. She described hearing distant radio chatter, the sound of trucks, and faint cries for help, but could not call out herself. In the darkness and pain, she recalled a “miraculous” moment: a hand holding hers and a voice saying, “Genelle, I got you. My name is Paul”. She has since searched for this person, believing it was a guardian angel.
Rescue and Recovery
On September 12, 2001, rescue workers — including a German Shepherd named Trakr. She underwent four surgeries, spent three months in the hospital, and had to relearn how to walk. Her survival has inspired her to speak publicly on resilience, faith, and purpose, and she has written the memoir Angel in the Rubble.
