How does Invisalign actually work? Here's the short version.

A lot of people assume straightening teeth means brackets, wires, and a year of dodging popcorn. It doesn't have to.

It starts with a digital scan — no impression trays, no goop. About ten minutes and we have a 3D model of your teeth on screen. From there, Dr. Karim plans the movement of every single tooth: which ones move, how far, and in what order.

That plan becomes a series of custom clear aligners. Each set moves your teeth a fraction of a millimeter. You wear them 20–22 hours a day, switch to the next set every week or two, and pop them out to eat, brush, and floss. Most cases finish in 6 to 18 months.

And because it's all planned digitally, you get to see your projected result before you commit to anything.

"Do I really need a deep cleaning, or is that an upsell?" — one of the most common questions we get from new Round Rock patients.

Short answer: gum disease is measurable. We look for clinical attachment loss of 4mm or more — calculated from pocket depth plus gum recession — along with tartar below the gumline on X-rays and bleeding when we measure. If it's there, a deep cleaning helps your gums heal. If it's not, a regular cleaning is all you need — and any dentist recommending more should show you the numbers.
