👅 What’s Your Mallampati Score?
If you’ve never heard of it, you’re not alone! The Mallampati Score is a quick screening tool that helps evaluate how open (or crowded) your airway is by looking at the back of your throat.

During the exam, you simply open your mouth and stick out your tongue while your dentist checks how much of the soft palate and uvula can be seen. Scores range from Class I (most open) to Class IV (most crowded).

Why does it matter? A more crowded airway may increase the risk of Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA), a common sleep disorder that can affect your overall health and quality of sleep.

While the Mallampati Score doesn’t diagnose sleep apnea, it can help identify patients who may benefit from further evaluation or a sleep study.

At our office, Dr. Austin routinely uses the Mallampati Score to screen for airway concerns and support your overall wellness.
