Is it PLAQUE, TARTER, or are your teeth just YELLOW now? Let's break it down -
We get asked this question every week by patients.
The fact is that ALL orthodontists use bonding agents to get your brackets or aligner attachments to stick to your teeth. However, at Vargo Orthodontics we use a 4-step proprietary technique to remove that sealer that is chemically bonded to your tooth to disappear and let the WHITE natural color return!
Adhesives used in orthodontic treatment aren't pearly white. In fact, they're a shade of yellow that most people work to avoid through various whitening treatments and a proper hygiene regimen to ensure pristine oral health and beauty. 🪥 🥳
Here's a perfect example with one of our assistants who had treatment when she was younger in another office. For years, she was embarrassed and picked on in school for the color of her teeth. She's a beautiful young lady, but didn't feel that way when she smiled. She asked Dr. Vargo why her teeth were yellow and even in between the teeth and he told her immediately that she had residual glue on her teeth.
Kenzie had glue left on her teeth from orthodontic treatment she received elsewhere. Though this material isn't harmful to our teeth in the long run, it takes away from the overall beauty of a smile. It was causing gum irritation where the adhesive was still bonded near her tissue. Dr. Vargo polished off this residual glue and got Kenzie's teeth looking 3 shades brighter! 😁 ✨

Can VO remove your sealers off of your teeth if you are not a past patient of record (i.e. We didn't do your braces)? Unfortunately, we cannot do that for you, but you can call your dentist or past orthodontist if you suspect that you have chemically bonded sealers on your teeth keeping them darker than when you started treatment.
