Pediatric Dentistry of the Ozarks checks all of my boxes! 🤩🤩🤩
-Sensory friendly
Desentized our son to tools before using them.
-Autonomy
Choice of which tools he preferred with visuals and trials and choice of which side to do first.
-Pairing
Room was ready with his favorite YouTube claw machine videos before he entered the room. Pairing highly preferred novelties with non-preferred task is expert level pediatric care.
Communication
-Kept language simple by limiting choices and used brief and clear language so he could understand.
Timers
-Helped him understand how long he had to do a non-preferred task.
Reinforcement
Gave tons of verbal praise!
Regulation
Compassionate and gentle hand holding and distraction techniques.
Allowed him to hold his stuffed animal and talked to him about his animal.
Inclusive
Staff welcomed Jack by name, greeted him with warmth, wore his favorite earrings, and told him how happy they were to see him.
You will never meet more devoted pediatric dentists who are also experts in strategies for keeping kids comfortable, not just compliant. They attend so many trainings to make their office inclusive for children with disabilities right here in Rolla.
