Did you know?

The Life of a Dental Hygienist (any Swifties on here? 🧡🤪):

Minimum 2 years of pre-requisite courses including but not limited to: chemistry, microbiology, anatomy + physiology, basic biology, and MORE!

Every dental hygienist must complete pre-requisite courses before applying and being accepted into an accredited dental hygiene program!

In dental hygiene school your dental hygienist takes: pharmacology, histology + embryology, nutrition, pathology, radiology, periodontology, plus many more didactic courses as well as clinical rotations where they must meet clinical requirements by seeing their own patients.

Your dental hygienist has taken a national written board, a clinical board, and a jurisprudence exam per state licensing regulations. Your dental hygienist must pass all these exams as well as graduate from an accredited dental hygiene program BEFORE they receive their license from the state board.

Your dental hygienist is required to complete 40 hours of continuing education and renew their license every 2 years.

Your dental hygienist is a LICENSED, EDUCATED healthcare professional! They don’t just walk into an office and train on the job. They take 2 years of specialized courses to give patients the best in preventive care.

We love our dental hygienists Kelci and Ashleigh! We just wanted to highlight them one last time before National Dental Hygiene month came to a close!

Dr. Neff has been BUSY!! Last weekend Dr. Neff and Dr. Mack spoke at LSU School of Dentistry’s Fall Symposium about cosmetic dentistry! We love Dr. Neff’s passion and enthusiasm in educating the next generation of dental professionals! We are also proud of Calvin, who is in his second year of dental school and was in charge of this event!

October is National Dental Hygiene Month! We would like to recognize our two amazing hygienists Kelci and Ashleigh. Dental hygienists do way more than just clean your teeth. They are experts in preventative care by taking diagnostic radiographs, updating medical history, removing plaque, biofilm and tartar, checking for oral cancer, patient education, and SO much more! “My name is Kelci VanBecelaere, and I am so excited to join the Neff Dentistry team! I graduated from Missouri Southern in May with a Bachelor of Health Science - Dental Hygiene. I have dreamed of being in this position for a long time, and I could not have chose a better place to start my career than here! In my free time I can be found trying new recipes or hanging out with friends and family. I am so exited to build relationships with all of my patients and help them feel more comfortable and confident on their oral health journey.”
