One of the biggest myths in dentistry is that bleeding means you should stop flossing.

In reality, bleeding is often a sign of inflammation caused by bacteria and plaque that have been sitting below the gumline.

When floss finally reaches those areas, the tissue reacts.

Many toothpastes contain SLS (sodium lauryl sulfate), a foaming ingredient that can irritate the skin around the mouth in some people and may contribute to breakouts or irritation.

We also recommend washing your face after brushing your teeth to help remove any leftover toothpaste residue sitting on the skin.
