You know what a general dentist does. You probably know what an orthodontist does. But a periodontist? That word can sound intimidating. A periodontist is simply a dentist who specializes in your gums and the bone underneath, and if you want to keep your teeth for life, those two things matter more than you might think. ๐Ÿ˜„

Not all dental images are the same. Traditional digital X-rays give you a flat, two-dimensional picture of your teeth, perfect for routine checkups. But for more complex cases, a different technology provides a level of detail that can transform treatment planning.

Our latest article explains CBCT (Cone Beam Computed Tomography) scans. The scanner rotates gently around your head for about 20 to 40 seconds, completely painlessly, and creates a complete 3D image of your teeth, jaws, nerves, and airways. The radiation dose is comparable to a few days of natural background radiation, far less than a medical CT scan. At Congressional Dental Care, this technology allows Dr. Sarkarzadeh and Dr. Farzin to plan with precision, leading to fewer surprises and better results.

Traditional digital X-rays are great for routine checkups. But for more complex cases, we turn to something far more powerful, CBCT scans.
