Happy Labor Day Weekend!

It’s the eve of the interview cycle as some of RPD’s gap year team members begin traveling around the country next week for dental school interviews.

As early as last December we began prepping some of these ladies and now it’s starting to feel real. We’ve reviewed their applications, looked over their school lists, read over their personal 📝statements, wrote some of their recommendation ✅ letters, and connected 🤝them with former team members in dental schools. Dr. Jen Kim even helped one get her suit tailored and presses. While they’ve been training to work in our 👧🧒🦷🧚office, we’ve made sure they are ready for these next few months.

Now it’s their time to shine. Rest up ladies, you’ve got 💪this! We’re pulling for you!

Happy 😊Wednesday!

Recently Andrew Horng, DDS, FAAPD was asked to evaluate a patient with what appeared to be a supernumerary 🦷 tooth. He couldn’t definitively tell if the tooth was an extra tooth or accessory cusp or tubercle so he sent the patient to obtain a CBCT.

Dr. Horng asked one of his good GD friends for help reading the scans. With his friends help, he was able to confirm that he could safely take out the supernumerary tooth without causing damage to tooth #15.

The lesson that he’s learned over the years is don’t be afraid to seek colleagues for help because their expertise may make you more effective and allow you to deliver the best care for your patient.

Happy 😊 Wednesday!

Last week RPD celebrated its 20th 🎂 anniversary. One year after finishing peds residency, Andrew Horng, DDS, FAAPD took over the practice of well-respected peds dentist Dr. Roger Kuwabara’s. With no health professionals in his immediate family, Dr. Horng renamed the practice Rockville Pediatric Dental and relied on colleagues and his mentors to navigate 🗺️ this new journey. Even in the infancy of his new practice, he began mentoring what many years later would turn out to be many local dentists and hygienists. The only original team member that has been around all 20 years has been his office manager, Candi.

To celebrate 🥳 🎉, our team members chose Chinese 🥡🥢 food. They also had cake 🎂 , sparkling c***r 🥂, and ice cream 🍨.

Cheers 🥂 to making it 2️⃣0️⃣ years! It was certainly a climb. Join us in wishing RPD a happy 20th!

Happy 😊 Monday!

It’s the FDOC for many dental and dental hygiene students around the country and also at the ☝️dental school in the world. Today the journey became official for former RPD team members Brian and Subin. They have come so far and we know they will go very far. It’s a big day for them and it’s very special as mentors to be able to come along for the ride.

RPD would like to wish all our former team members and dental students across the country a successful school year!

Happy 😃Friday!

It was OR teaching Friday at UMMS for Dr. Horng. You could tell that the aura of two days of BTS concerts earlier in the week was still present.

Today he worked with UMSOD 2nd year peds resident Dr. Julia Song and 4th year peds clerk, Sophia Lin. And of course, they requested listening to BTS. It was an efficient day. It’s always great working with people focused on learning and improving their skills.

After work Dr. Horng had dinner with a few former team members to wish them a successful school year.

Where did they eat? At a place that Dr. Horng had heard about for years and one that BTS also ate at while on tour in Baltimore.
