Wellness Wednesday
BEHIND THE SMILE: KIM

Kim has been such an important part of the growth happening behind the scenes at Balance. With more than 15 years in dental administration, she brings experience to the practice, but it’s her willingness to think bigger about what wellness can look like that makes her such a great fit for where we’re headed.

Her background includes Reiki, Feng Shui, root cause wellness, energy based therapies, and more, and she’s currently continuing her education in Functional Medicine. Kim brings that knowledge into Balance as we explore ways to support the whole person, not just their oral health.

She’s one of those people who is always willing to learn, try something new, and help turn a bigger vision into something real. We’re so grateful she’s part of what we’re building.

Not all bacteria in your mouth are the enemy.

Your oral microbiome is an entire ecosystem, and keeping that ecosystem healthy is a little more nuanced than trying to kill every germ. What you rinse with, how you care for your mouth at home, your saliva, nutrition, and daily habits can all influence that environment.

Sometimes better oral health is less about adding another product and more about understanding what your mouth actually needs. That's why we look at the bigger picture when building preventive care around each patient.

The future of oral health is bigger than clean teeth.

Your mouth is connected to the rest of your body, and the way we care for it should reflect that. We are looking at the full picture, asking better questions, and creating care that supports your health far beyond the dental chair.

Whole body thinking is not a trend. It is where oral health is going.

BEHIND THE SMILE: KALA

Kala has been a dental hygienist for over 20 years, but what really sets her apart is how much she genuinely loves learning, asking questions, and finding better ways to care for her patients.

She’s passionate about looking beyond the teeth and helping people understand how oral health connects to the rest of the body. Whether she’s learning more about TMJ, airway health, or new therapies, Kala is always looking for ways to make care feel more personal, thoughtful, and specific to the person in her chair.

Bloating isn’t always just about what you eat. How you breathe while you eat can play a role too.

Breathing through your nose helps keep your mouth from drying out, supports healthy saliva, and may help reduce the amount of extra air you swallow during meals.

Sometimes it’s the unexpected touches that completely change the way a space feels.

Sound, music, and frequency can all play a part in making a treatment room feel calmer, softer, and a little less clinical. It’s those small details you may not expect that can shape the entire experience.

Care isn’t only about what’s being done. It’s also about how the space makes you feel while you’re there.

So grateful for the amazing providers on our team who care so deeply about their patients and the experience they have here.

We’re moving away from looking at health in separate boxes.

What’s happening in your mouth can reflect what’s happening throughout the body, and the way we support sleep, stress, inflammation, movement and nutrition can influence oral health too.

Your mouth is home to hundreds of different species of bacteria, and that's a good thing. The goal isn't sterility. The goal is balance. When your oral microbiome is in harmony, everything from your gums to your overall health benefits.

Wellness doesn’t always mean buying more. Sometimes it’s as simple as getting outside, soaking up a little sun, and using what’s already available to us. ☀️
