This patient came to the office wanting to restore their smile after years of wear and tear making his teeth appear short with uneven edges. He presented with a combinatiation of severe attrition, erosion, signs of parafunction, a diastema, and minor crowding. When designing a comprehensive case like this, one of the most important steps prior to any treatment is evaluating the patient's TMJ. After confirming a stable joint, the next step is completing a dental facial analysis and determining the proper position of the teeth in relation to the face. In this patient's case, the upper portion of the teeth were ideal so we decided to lengthen the edges. We also needed to build up the lower teeth to create a stable bite and build in protective function to prevent chipping or fracturing the new restorations. This treatment plan involved limited orthodontics with clear aligners and a combination of veneers and crowns.
