This adult patient did not like that their teeth were flared and had spaces between them. She chose to be treated with traditional braces and now she is smiling with confidence!

When there is a lot of space naturally occurring, we always provide patients with both bonded (fixed) retainers and removable retainers. The bonded retainers only go on the inside of the front teeth to prevent spaces from opening up during the day. For these we use a CAD-CAM wire custom-made to adapt perfectly to the patient's teeth. The removable retainers cover the whole arch to maintain the position of all the teeth. The right retention plan is crucial to maintaining the position of your teeth after orthodontics.

✨Transformation Tuesday✨

This teen patient came to our office with the following:
-upper crowding
-deep bite (teeth overlapping too much when biting down)
-class II malocclusion (upper teeth too far forward)
We treated her with traditional metal braces and rubber bands and got a great result!

This case illustrates nicely how the heights of the teeth relative to each other really impact smile esthetics. Prior to treatment, this patient's front teeth were at different levels which resulted in uneven show of her gums when smiling. Leveling and aligning the teeth provided symmetry and an improved smile arc.

Esthetics aside, correcting deep bites is really important to preserve tooth structure over the long term. When the front teeth are overlapping too much, the lower teeth can wear down significantly over time. By correcting the deep bite at an early age, we can prevent such damage to the teeth, and subsequently save patients having to go through costly dental work later in life.
