Dr. Sheppard pursued extensive additional study and completed multiple residencies, specializing in pediatric dentistry and special healthcare needs dentistry. He is certified by the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry and is a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry, a status that requires completing a rigorous certification process and maintaining annual renewal to ensure continued excellence. Dr. Sheppard is also a proud veteran of the United States Navy. Navy Officer, he served as a dentist on the USS Bataan (LHD-5) and traveled the world. After his military service, he returned to the Medical University of South Carolina to complete his pediatric dentistry residency. With over a decade of practice in Roanoke, Dr. Sheppard continues to serve as a member of the College of Diplomates and is a distinguished Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry.
