35% OF OUR TOOTH surfaces can only be cleaned by flossing. Toothbrush bristles simply can’t reach the spots between teeth or under the gumline, and if we don’t floss, plaque and food debris will remain stuck there, leading to bad breath and risking tooth decay and gum disease. 😬

Technique is important, though. Simply snapping the floss between our teeth and pulling it back out won’t do much. To get the benefits of fresher breath and healthier teeth and gums, we should curve the floss in a C-shape around our teeth and sweep it up and down ↕️ to scrape away plaque, including beneath the gumline. We need to do this in both directions for each tooth. The key is being thorough but gentle, because flossing shouldn’t hurt!

Anyone who’s had a hard time with daily flossing might want to consider options like floss picks or water flossers. Not sure where to start or what to use? Just ask the experts! 👍
