We will then teach your child that going to the dentist does not need to

By the time your child is ready for braces, our dentists will have already been in conversation with you, which will make the transition smooth, and patient-focused, and minimize the time your child will spend in braces. This week's training session: brought to you by Dr. B's actual kids. 😅

🦷They've got the gloves, the curiosity, and zero hesitation about putting braces on dad himself. Funny enough, this is basically what we hope every kid feels about the dentist's chair: curious, comfortable, not scared at all.

📍The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry recommends a first dental visit by a child's first birthday (or within six months of that first tooth), and the American Association of Orthodontists recommends a first orthodontic check by age 7. Starting early on both fronts helps kids build comfort with the chair, the tools, and the routine before nerves ever get a chance to set in... even if most of our patients don't ask to try the pliers themselves.

⚽️🏀🏈 Heads up, sports parents! Not all mouth guards are created equal.
A custom-fitted sports mouth guard actually protects your child's teeth, jaw, and developing smile the way a boil-and-bite from a big box store simply can't.

You could grab one online. You could also grab sushi at a gas station. We don't recommend either. 🙅

Have you ever wondered if braces alone could fix an underbite without surgery?
Meet William. 🦷✨
When William first came to RPDO, his family had one clear goal: correct his underbite, narrow upper jaw and crowding without surgery if at all possible.
We heard them.
Here's how we built his treatment plan:
🔵 First, we referred out to have those retained baby canines removed to make room for his permanent teeth to come in properly.
🔵 Next, we used a rapid palate expander (RPE) to gently widen his upper jaw — a key step in correcting the underbite, making space and giving his teeth room to align.
🔵 Once the foundation was set, we placed upper and lower metal braces with elastics to fine-tune his bite.

The result? A full, healthy, beautifully aligned smile — no surgery required. 🙌
If your child has been told they may need surgery to correct an underbite or jaw alignment issue, it's worth getting an early evaluation. Interceptive orthodontic treatment can make a significant difference when started at the right time.

📌We don’t often recommend treatment at 7, but that's when early signs of crowding, bite problems, and jaw development concerns first show up on X-rays.
