Do you remember when your next dental appointment is? We schedule our routine checkups for every six months. If you're not on the schedule for your next appointment, you should give us a call! It's important to always keep in front of possible dental problems, before they develop into full blown cavities or infections.

Do you know the differences between types of toothpaste? While there's little to no difference between brands, there are some toothpaste types that can make a difference.

Whitening toothpastes will often use abrasive particles that will remove a small layer of your enamel, which can help brighten your teeth by a shade or two. But buyer beware, removing enamel can make your tooth stain easier in the future, and make the tooth more prone to damage.

Most toothpastes just need enough fluoride in the ingredients to work, but for sensitive teeth you want a different active ingredient. Colgate Pro-Relief and Sensodyne Repair & Protect both have different active ingredients that make them stand out as products. Bonus points to Sensodyne for also having one in cinnamon flavor!

If you're not in the market for any specialty toothpaste, be sure it has at least 1500ppm of fluoride in the ingredients. Beyond that, you could just shop by flavor!

Tooth pain is no joke, and don’t get us started about tooth infections! Yikes… But we can help! Here’s how: ↓

Cracked/damaged teeth and cavities that are left untreated are the main culprits behind this all-too-common issue. It causes immense pain and, unfortunately, will not go away on its own. That’s where we come in!

There are many symptoms that tell us you may need a root canal: persistent tooth pain, heat or cold sensitivity, swollen gums and/or jaw, and more. Alright, so now that we’ve stated the obvious - you’re hurting… surprise! - how exactly do we go about fixing that? What IS a root canal?

First, we go in and scoop out all the bad stuff that’s causing the pain to begin with.
With that clean slate made, we shape the inside of your tooth and perfect the area.
After that, we fill the inside of your tooth to make it good as new and seal it to prevent further damage.
In most cases, the sealant is only temporary as you wait for a custom crown to be created and placed over the tooth to restore your bite and give you longer lasting protection.

The big question everyone has: will it hurt? Believe it or not, you should feel immediate relief once the infection is removed from your tooth. This isn’t to say the area won’t be sore as it full heals afterwards, but it should be much more bearable than before and can be managed with the help of over the counter pain meds. Plus, it’s only temporary! In most cases, patients notice a decline in the pain at the 1-2 week mark. Sounds a lot better than the relentless worsening ache of an infection, we think.

Do you or a loved one suffer from tooth pain? Let us help! Send us a message or call us at (972)236-4987, and we’ll get you taken care of. See you soon!
