When faced with deep overbites one should always concentrate on maintaining initial vertical positions of maxillary incisors.

Protecting the smile is of utmost importance to achieve facially driven orthodontic treatment.

Before and 6 weeks correction of anterior crossbite with

Upper right lateral incisor got stuck in crossbite in this adult patient.

Patient didn’t want to be in braces or wear aligners for a long time.

Brius was designed and fabricated to provide ultimate control in predictable, autonomous tooth movement.

No labial attachments or intra oral elastics were used.

Pre-prosthetic phase complete.

Patient was referred by for pre-prosthetic orthodontic treatment.

Been MIA a bit. Hope everyone is having a great holiday season!

Just wanted to share this case before the year end.

Patient presented with anterior-posterior cross bite and an open bite tendency.

Usually, based on approaches taught in textbooks, most orthodontists would chose an extraction approach due to complexities of controlling transverse and vertical.

Parents and I chose non extraction approach. Control of incisor inclination was crucial in achieving positive final result.

For dentists: would you have chosen the same approach?

The Greatest Moments

FIRST MOMENT - IMMEDIATELY AFTER BRACES ARE INSTALLED
-
Most patients are excited when orthodontic appliances are bonded, in hopes of achieving better function and improving their esthetic appearance.

SECOND MOMENT: IMMEDIATELY AFTER BRACES ARE REMOVED.
-
Once orthodontic appliances are removed, patients are excited to show off their new smile and eat all the food they couldn’t during treatment.
-
First picture - placement 😀
Second picture - removal 😀

LET’S KEEP THE EXCITEMENT GOONG🤩

This young man was referred to me for re-treatment. After 4 years (😕) of “orthodontic” treatment, the results were subpar for the to successfully restore the smile.

📌Previously treating orthodontist requested an extraction of the Upper right canine ☠️ and lateral incisor was moved into that space. 🤔

👉🏻 requested to have the lateral moved back into its proper position and correct the bite for future prosthetic replacement of the extracted canine.

7️⃣Final: Implant restored

Dealing with Impactions always adds a highlight to the clinical day.

It is so important to maintain primary (baby) teeth until they naturally fall out.

If primary tooth 🦷 exfoliates earlier then it was supposed to, it’s crucial to place a space maintainer.

Early loss of primary teeth, almost always will lead to space loss and then an unfortunate impaction of permanent teeth.

Frenectomy - procedure intended to remove extra piece of tissue called a frenum.

Patient had gap between her front teeth, usually once the gap is orthodontically fully closed frenectomy procedure is planned to lessen the chances of frenum pull and hence avoid the gap from re-opening.

The procedure is performed with a soft tissue laser.

Peace out gappy Gap 👍🏻

If patient was born with missing laterals, the spaces must be temporarily restored.
-
After ortho treatment, patient’s lateral incisor spaces were reopened.
-
Temporary acrylic Maryland Bridge was fabricated and inserted.
-
Bridge stays in place until the child is old enough to get implants.
