In this case, less was more. After knowing him for nearly ten years, I knew his goal was to have teeth he could function with for a long time—not a huge Hollywood smile. His teeth were chipping, and his bite was causing ongoing trauma. The standard approach of crowning every tooth (that’s right - he was slated to have 20 crowns before coming to me) would have meant a ton of drilling and excessive cost. I am so happy we were able to treat him conservatively using aligner therapy (thanks Dr. Nithya Chalikonda Estes 🙌🏻) to open his bite and then just four crowns. This is a dramatic result that honors his budget and his goals. Now he smiles ear to ear! 😄✨

When I opened the practice, I never imagined we’d hit a milestone like this in our very first year. Thanks to your incredible support, our schedule has been completely packed with wonderful new patients! Because of this, we are able to welcome to Dr. Sara DeMarsilis to our team! 🦷✨
She will be working alongside Dr. Flanagan to treat our growing patient family. Dr. DeMarsilis is not only hilarious and friendly, but she is also an exceptionally talented dentist. We are so thrilled to welcome her to Flanagan Family Dentistry 💛

Dr. Sara DeMarsilis is a Connecticut native and a graduate of NYU College of Dentistry. Before pursuing dentistry, she spent three years teaching Chemistry & Physics at The Hotchkiss School where she developed a love for working closely with others and being part of a close-knit community. She went on to complete her General Practice Residency at Mount Sinai in New York City, where she gained experience in comprehensive and restorative dentistry.
Dr. DeMarsilis recently moved to Westport with her husband, Kevin, and their dog, Fin. Outside of the office, she enjoys being by the water as much as possible and exploring all that coastal Connecticut has to offer. She is excited to join the Flanagan Family Dentistry team and looks forward to building lasting relationships with her patients and helping them feel confident in their smiles.

I got my Invisalign delivered today. It was a group effort 😅

I’ve wanted to straighten my teeth for over a decade. My bottom teeth started to crowd shortly after I stopped wearing my retainer in college (now I know better 🫠). I was told I wasn’t a good candidate for Invisalign by my professors in dental school when I asked them for it. But knowing what I know now, I am excited to finally treat myself and be done in just a few months!

More to come… still figuring out how to eat with these attachments 🤣my patients make it look so easy 🤪

If you’ve visited us over the past few weeks, you might have met our amazing intern, Sara! 👋
We finally got her into the assistant’s chair, and she absolutely crushed it. Such a natural! 💖 We love having her energy around the office.
That being said... if you see her during your next visit, please help us convince her that we’re a totally normal, highly functional dental team so she never leaves 🙃

2 Hours. 2 Teeth. 1 Brand New Smile. 🦷🤩✨
These front teeth have worked hard over the years, but the cracks and wear were finally catching up to them. If you swipe, you can see just how deep those fractures went!
By designing and milling these crowns right here in the office, we skipped the “middleman” (and the messy temporary crowns).
The result?
✅ No “guessing games” with a lab
✅ No second appointment for cementing
✅ A perfect fit in a single visit

Happy Dental Assistants Recognition Week to my girls!! For National Children’s Dental Health Month we got to teach the 3 and 4 year old at Children’s Academy the importance of taking care of your teeth and a healthy diet to prevent cavities 😁 I also had 2 very special helpers 🥹 I just love all of these kiddos 🥰
