A knocked-out tooth can feel scary, but acting quickly makes a big difference.

If this happens, gently place the tooth in saline or milk to help preserve it, and contact your dentist immediately. The sooner you’re seen, the better the chances of saving the tooth.

Tip of the Day: Drink More Water for a Healthier Smile

Drinking water throughout the day is one of the easiest ways to support good oral health. Water helps rinse away food particles, reduce cavity-causing acids, and prevent dry mouth.

Choosing water instead of sugary drinks can make a big difference for your teeth over time.

Your smile will thank you!

Jaw pain, clicking or popping, frequent headaches, and facial soreness are more common than most people realize—and they’re often linked to TMD (temporomandibular joint disorder).

We often see patients who’ve been quietly dealing with these symptoms for months (or longer) without knowing the cause.

The encouraging news? Many people find relief by making small, consistent changes at home—especially when symptoms are caught early.

We’re sharing 7 at-home tips that may help improve TMD symptoms at home –

1. Relax your jaw
• Your teeth should be slightly apart most of the day.
• Teeth should only touch when chewing or swallowing.
• Check in often—especially during stress.

2. Eat pain-free foods
• Choose softer foods during flare-ups.
• Skip gum, chewy candy, tough meats, and hard breads until symptoms improve.
• If it hurts—don’t do it.

3. Stand up straight
• Keep screens at eye level
• Shoulders back and relaxed
• No head tilting
• Skip heavy shoulder bags

4. Sleep and stress matter
• Avoid stomach sleeping
• Keep a consistent sleep schedule
• Limit alcohol
• Manage stress with movement & breathing
• Get checked for sleep apnea
• Clenching often starts here.

5. Stretch your muscles
• Jaw stretches
• Chin tuck
• Lateral neck stretches
• Jaw rotation
• Neck flexion
• Diagonal flexion

At-home care helps - but ongoing pain deserves an evaluation.
Peace Street Dental is here to help with custom biteguards, bite adjustments, coordinated care with physical therapy, or referral for a sleep apnea evaluation.
You don’t have to live with ongoing discomfort.

Kids are typically ready to brush on their own once they can tie their shoes! 👟

Both tasks require similar coordination and fine motor skills —steady hands, good dexterity, and the ability to follow multi-step routines.

Until then, parents should do a second brush and check-in to make sure every tooth gets the attention it deserves. ✨

💧 Is fluoride in Raleigh’s water safe? Yes, and incredibly helpful.

You may have noticed fluoride headlines in your newsfeed recently. We're here to cut through the noise with clear information for you.

🦷 Why Fluoride Matters: Fluoride is a natural mineral that strengthens enamel (the protective layer of your teeth). It works in two important ways:
• Topically (toothpaste, rinses): Makes enamel more resistant to decay
• Systemically (drinking water): Helps developing teeth become stronger before they erupt

Concerns about fluoride and IQ come from studies in areas with very high fluoride levels (3.7 mg/L+). Raleigh’s water is regulated around 0.7 mg/L — well within safe, proven ranges.
