HAPPY BIRTHDAY 🥳🎂 Dr. Dorothy DeRose
Today we celebrate Dr. Dorothy DeRose, born in 1915, who would have turned 110 today. A true pioneer, the first female pediatric dentist in Wisconsin, possibly in the U.S., and the first woman dentist in Racine.
More than her achievements, she is the founding mother of our family dental practice; the one who started it all. Her passion, dedication, and warmth continue to inspire generations of the DeRose family.

To help you get to know our office a little better, we’re excited to introduce our talented dentists:
Dr. Maria Barnes earned her Bachelor’s degree in Biology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison before pursuing her Doctorate of Dental Surgery at Marquette University School of Dentistry, where she also served as Class President. As a third-generation dentist, following in the footsteps of her mother and grandmother, Dr. Barnes is deeply committed to continuing her family's legacy. She currently serves as the President of the Racine Dental Association and is a member of the Board of Trustees for the Wisconsin Dental Association. Dr. Barnes is proud to provide conservative, exceptional care to Racine and the surrounding communities.
Dr. Francesca DeRose earned her Doctorate of Dental Surgery from Marquette University and has been practicing for 44 years. A past President of the Racine Dental Association, Dr. DeRose has also held representative positions with both the Wisconsin Dental Association and the American Dental Association. She served on the ADA’s Council on Dental Benefits, working to improve insurance claims processing. While she isn't practicing as frequently anymore, Dr. DeRose still enjoys coming in from time to time to catch up with patients and lend a hand to Dr. Barnes when needed.
