🦷Love learning all things Orthodontics! ❤️ This past Friday, I got to spend the day in the city learning the latest Invisalign Innovations with our amazing Bayview Ortho team and some awesome colleagues. Even got to spend the day with my former co-resident from Montefiore. What a blast from the past! Enjoy these moments so much. It is a pleasure to get to learn what you love and I do not take it for granted. 🙏🫶

✏️📚 🦷 Today we had the pleasure of spending the morning teaching young students at Sacred Heart about the importance of good dental hygiene. We even got into the Halloween spirit with them 🎃 Jan, Marielle and I were SO impressed with how much these delightful students knew. Love, love, loved our time with them 🥰 Thank you Ms.Conlan for having us 🫶

🤗 Happy Wednesday! Meet Gissell👋…She originally had clear aligners in another dental office for approximately 2 years and was deeply unhappy with her bite. So much so that she never went back and kept her attachments on for about a year before coming to see me. Gissell felt that she could not bite properly and was unable to break down her food. This is where we came in 🙌
We created a detailed and customized prescription for Gissell using Braces➕ Elastics (She was the MVP of elastic wear!!)😊 We are so proud of how far she came! 👏👏

Patient started out with:
❌ Multiple Anterior Teeth Open Bite
❌ Bilateral Posterior Open Bite
❌ Slight Maxillary Crowding
❌ Slight Mandibular Crowding
❌ Midline’s Not Coincident

And now we have:
✅ Broad Upper And Lower Arches
✅ No More Crowding
✅ No Anterior Open Bite
✅ No Posterior Open Bite
✅ Improved Smile Arc
✅ Midline’s Coincident
➡️ Check out more before and after pictures of her beautiful smile transformation ❤️
Do you know anyone with this type of bite?

👋 Meet James 👋…He had upper teeth in anterior crossbite (meaning the top front teeth were behind the bottom front teeth) as well as misalignment of his permanent front teeth.
Now you might be wondering if is he too young for treatment since he still had many baby teeth present. The answer is he was ready for Phase I treatment.

What is Phase I treatment? This is when kids present at around age 7-9 who have a dental problem that will cause further issues with adult tooth development. This is where orthodontists get involved to save the day!!! 👩🏻‍⚕️💪
In this case, we used a combination of palatal expansion and partial braces to help correct the anterior crossbite and widen the maxillary arch. All done within 12 months of treatment. Now James has a healthy bite and is smiling from ear to ear 😁
