I thought I would post a few photos of some everyday dental work that we do here. First photo is after about 3 seconds of drilling, I don't have a before picture, but there was a small black pinhole with dark shadowing around it. After this short bit of drilling it is obvious the cavity is fairly large. Second pic shows the cavity opened up a bit more, but still can't see the edges of the cavity. The orange-brown color is soft mushy tooth structure that is decay that travels through the tooth. Third pic is after all the decay is removed. The cavity extended to the outer edge of the tooth and was pretty big. The walls of the cavity are smoothed so that a better filling can be placed. 4th pic is after the filling has been placed and initial adjustments. (The blue stuff is a rubber dam by the way). Last picture, the dam has been removed, bite checked and adjusted, and the filling is polished to be glassy smooth.
Any comments or questions are welcome!
