🦷✨ WHAT ACTUALLY HAPPENS DURING A ROOT CANAL?

The words “root canal” can sound intimidating—but knowing what happens can make the process feel a whole lot less mysterious. 👀

Here's a simplified look at the process:

1️⃣ NUMB 💉
The tooth and surrounding area are numbed to keep you comfortable during treatment.

2️⃣ ACCESS 🦷
A small opening is made in the tooth to reach the inside.

3️⃣ REMOVE 🦠
The damaged or infected pulp is carefully removed.

4️⃣ CLEAN 🧼
The inside of the tooth and root canals are cleaned and disinfected.

5️⃣ FILL & SEAL 🔒
The cleaned canals are filled and sealed to help prevent bacteria from getting back inside.

6️⃣ RESTORE ✨
The tooth is restored so it can function normally again. Depending on the tooth and its condition, this may include a crown or another type of restoration.

❤️ The goal of root canal treatment is to help save the natural tooth when possible.

So if you've been told you need a root canal, don't be afraid to ask questions! Understanding your treatment can make the experience much less intimidating.

🦷🚨 DO I REALLY NEED A ROOT CANAL?

Hearing the words “root canal” can make people nervous. 😬 But what exactly makes a tooth need one?

A root canal may be recommended when the pulp—the living tissue inside your tooth—becomes inflamed or infected.

Some common causes include:

🦠 Deep decay — A cavity can eventually reach the inside of the tooth.

💥 A crack or fracture — Damage can allow bacteria to reach the pulp.

🦷 Trauma — An injury to a tooth can damage the pulp, even if the tooth doesn't look broken.

🔄 Repeated dental procedures — Multiple procedures on the same tooth can sometimes affect the pulp.

⚠️ Infection — When the pulp becomes infected, treatment may be needed to prevent the problem from spreading.

And here's something important:

A tooth doesn't always have to hurt to have a problem.

Some teeth needing root canal treatment may cause pain or sensitivity, while others may have very few noticeable symptoms.

If your dentist recommends a root canal, they're evaluating the condition of the tooth and the surrounding tissues to determine the appropriate treatment.

🦷 Questions about a tooth? We're always happy to explain what we're seeing and why we're recommending treatment. ❤️

🪥✨ 4 SIMPLE HABITS FOR HEALTHIER GUMS ✨🪥

Want to give your gums some extra love? ❤️ Start with these four simple habits:

🦷 1. Brush twice a day
Use a soft-bristled toothbrush and gently clean along your gumline.

🧵 2. Clean between your teeth every day
Floss or use another interdental cleaner to remove plaque where your toothbrush can't reach.

💧 3. Drink plenty of water
Water helps wash away food particles and supports a healthy mouth.

🦷 4. Don't skip your dental visits
Professional cleanings help remove buildup that you can't remove at home and allow us to catch problems early.

✨ Remember: Healthy gums don't happen overnight. They're the result of small habits repeated every day!

Give your gums the attention they deserve. 💕🦷

❤️🦷 YOUR MOUTH IS CONNECTED TO YOUR BODY!

Your mouth isn't separate from the rest of you. It's an important part of your overall health!

When you have gum disease, your body is dealing with chronic inflammation and bacteria in the mouth.

That's one reason taking care of your gums is about more than just having a pretty smile. ✨

Here are a few ways to support your oral health:

🪥 Brush twice a day
🧵 Clean between your teeth every day (inter proximal aid such as flossing)
💧 Stay hydrated
🚭 Avoid to***co products
🦷 Keep your regular dental & hygiene visits

Think of your mouth as part of the bigger picture. 🌎❤️

Taking care of your smile is taking care of YOU!

🚨 4 SIGNS OF PERIODONTAL DISEASE YOU SHOULDN'T IGNORE 🚨

Gum disease doesn't always hurt—which means you may not realize there's a problem until it has progressed.

Keep an eye out for these signs 👀👇

🩸 1. Bleeding gums
Your gums bleed when brushing or flossing.

🔴 2. Red, swollen, or tender gums
Healthy gums should generally be firm and pink, not puffy or irritated.

😮‍💨 3. Persistent bad breath
Bad breath that doesn't seem to go away can be associated with bacteria and gum disease.

🦷 4. Gums pulling away from your teeth
Receding gums or spaces developing between your teeth and gums can be a sign that something needs attention.

❤️ The good news? Gum disease is often preventable and, when caught early, can be treated.
Don't wait until your gums hurt to have them checked!

🦷 Your gums deserve just as much attention as your teeth.
